In 1950-s a lot of springs to north-east of Aso town were free for bathing and Japanese came there for rest and treatment. Now a ryokan is built near every spring and former wild place turned into beautiful hot spring town with SPA procedures. You can discover hot springs everywhere: in the forest and in the caves, in the places with views on the mountains or along the river. The composition of hot springs water are different that is ideal to help with treating specific illnesses and conditions (the water of springs available for drink!). The biggest impression on me produced the cave bath with sulphur springs. It wasn’t easy to discover it and I asked locals for help. When I came inside I could see nothing because of cloudy or milky gave with specific smell. A little bit later I started to move deeper on peoples voices. On my way I bang against a basket for clothes… Then lamely rocks of different sizes I reached the water and finally stepped to sulphur spring about 40 degrees above zero. It is especially good in the treatment of acne and skin complaints.
Sorry, but I hadn’t a chance to take the photos at this cave bath…
